OVERVIEW
In 2017 I created this Illustration for the exhibition «Not women's business» prepared within the Povaha campaign in partnership with Dobra Lystivka Fund. I drew the journalism profession because I have always admired the courage of these people. It was relevant because there was already fighting on my country's territory then. I wanted to show the courage of the women who do their work on the front lines, just like the men.
The inspiration came from famous women photographers who, at various times, put themselves at the center of the conflict.
AFTERWORD
I did not expect this illustration to be relevant today when Russia has started a full-scale war with my country.
At least 32 journalists have been killed in Russia’s ongoing war on Ukraine.
“Eternal memory to our fighters of information front. All journalists today who work 24/7 are heroes. Our information front is strong thanks to all of you,” said the Ukrainian culture and information policy minister, Oleksandr Tkachenko. I join his words.
It dedicates to journalists who cover the truth about Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.
